Monday, Monday! Can’t get enough of that day. Today, I want to change it up a bit. As I have been doing my personal development studies today, I have been going over a few things in my head. During the morning, when I am at the gym and doing my personal development, my mind moves quickly, but efficiently. Quite a few of the things I feel like I should do that day, come to me while doing my morning studies. Long story short, we are talking about the book As A Man Thinketh, which is jam packed with the concept of, you become what you think about and that the success or failure of your life is the sum total of your thoughts. Well, over the passed few years but especially over the passed few months,
I have really dialed into setting the tone for my thoughts and therefore my actions, from the moment I wake up.
I believe that there is an art to the way you study. And I would like to dissect the way I start my day. I know I have talked about this before. But once again, I am a man of repetition.
5:00-5:15am–I try my very best to be a spiritual man, so the first thing I do to get my mind right is tap into the good Lord’s word. If I pay close attention to the words I am reading, it is impossible for me to not walk away from that 15 minutes feeling better than when I started. Whether or not you believe in God or practice worshipping him, start your day with either spiritual studies or giving thanks.
5:15-5:30am–I began by writing down my goals in my planner. One goal is about the development of my kids. One goal is about becoming a better dad, husband, son, friend, and person. One goal is about becoming more spiritually sound. One goal is about physical fitness. Three goals are about finances. Now there are no rules when it comes to the number of goals you have and what they look like. I simply show you to help you get the ball rolling. All of my goals start by saying, “I am so happy and grateful that I, Marc Cram…” I then visualize for about 5-7 minutes how it will look and what it will feel like as I accomplish those goals. Then I say them to myself in the mirror with conviction.
5:30-6:00am–I always have a book that I am reading outside of the one we write the blog on. As I read, I really seek to understand and process what I am reading. Several times putting down the book to write down my thoughts. I am in no hurry to get through the book. All I care about is the knowledge on how to get better and then the action plan to get there.
6:00-7:30am–Gym time. I absolutely love going to the gym at this time. For years, I went from 5:30-7:00 pm. But during that time, I constantly found myself being interrupted by the busyness of the day. This new time is amazing. First of all, it starts my day off physically the right way, but it almost always comes interrupted. I can’t tell you enough how valuable my gym time is to me each morning and the time slot in which I have selected to do it.
7:30-8:00am–Write my blog. As I have said before, writing the blog has been such a great blessing in my life. First, it holds me accountable to do my power hour, even when I am traveling with little sleep and sitting on planes the whole day. I almost ALWAYS get it done!! Second, I get the opportunity every day to share concepts that change my life. And even if one person out of all those that read it writes me that day, expressing how today’s blog effected them, then my job was a success.
By the time 8:00am comes around, my day has already been filled with personal growth, and putting my mind in the right state to try and take over the world. THIS STUFF WORKS!! As I have said before, get your butt out of bed earlier. Stop making excuses as to why you need to sleep more than 7 hours a day. I have never had more energy, motivation for life, and happiness. And it all comes with about 6 hours of sleep a night. Start your day the right way. It will change your life.
