My good peeps. Sorry for the delay on the blog posts. I’ve been up in the mountains with horrible internet service, but we survived another Cram fam reunion and here we are ready to rock and roll. I hope this blog catches everyone in a wonderful spot in their lives. One of growth, development and the simple desire to get better. To get better for yourself and not because someone else wants you to. Going after hopes, dreams and happiness is a personal choice. Today, Mr. Canfield moves onto the next principle, which is called “practice the big 5”.
Success is the sum of small efforts. Imagine if you were to go to a tree every day and swing a large ax at it 5 times. No matter how big the tree was, it would come tumbling down eventually. How very simple, and how very true. The same goes for accomplishing our goals. Practicing the big 5 means to choose 5 things every day that help move you towards your goal and accomplish them before your head hits your pillow at night. For example, when Jack was trying to sell his first book, he would select 5 things each day to help him market it. He would do things such as: send a copy to people on the celebrity book list, or he would go to different book signings that day, or he would call a bunch of different radio stations to try and get on their show to talk about his book. Day in and day out, for two years, he would follow this concept of the big 5. Now think about it. What might you accomplish if you picked 5 specific things every day to help you achieve your goal? And not lay in your bed at night until they were all done?
Did this hard work day in and day out pay off? Yes!! Eventually he sold more than 10 million copies in 43 different languages and he attributes most of that success to chopping away at that tree.
I am telling you, there would be no where to go except up.
There would be an undoubted amount of success that would come your way. Again, life is about progress. If you are progressing, you will get fulfillment, and happiness comes from fulfillment. I will continue to use those words for blogs and blogs and blogs to come. I will continue to use those words in conversations for years and years to come. If you are moving forward, each and every day, YOU WILL BE HAPPY!! I challenge all of us to get better. To pick 5 things each day that pushes us in the direction of our goal, and NOT STOP until we get there.
5 things a day keeps the unhappiness away, Cram
