Today is Thursday my good people. Hope this post finds you in the greatest of spirits. Today we move on to the next principle which is surround yourself with successful people. You will be the average of the five people that you spend the most time with. In other words, we become like the people we hang out with. This is something that has affected and blessed my life since I was back in high school. To this day, one of the greatest decisions I have ever made was to surround myself with incredible friends. Ones that shared the same values as me and wanted a lot of the same things in life. To this day, our friendships stand strong. We get together often and continue to lift each other up and love each other. The same goes for my professional life. I go to work every day and surround myself with a bunch of bad ass dudes, that are constantly trying to get better, do more, accomplish more and progress. Its motivating, uplifting and a huge blessing in my life.
The bottom line is that if you want to be more successful, you have to start hanging out with more successful people. Think of the people that you surround yourself with right now. Do they uplift you or do they tear you down? Do they complain or do they create? Do they believe or do they second guess? Think of the different types of conversations you have with your different interactions each day. Now think of the positive or negative effect that those conversations have on you. When you spend time with those that are creators, instead of complainers, your entire state of mind changes entirely. You are motivated and inspired to be better, you are given ideas on how to get there and you usually walk away feeling better than when the conversation first started. As opposed to talking to those that just sit and complain. It is so easy to become negative in these situations. So avoid them like the plague. You should be working so hard each day to put yourself around people that inspire.
Jon Asaraf, author of The Answer, and a very successful entrepreneur tells the story of how he grew up hanging out with gang members and other, not so good, influences. His life was going no where fast because of it. He ended up getting a job at the Jewish Mens Health club, where he made $1.65 an hour. With the job, he also received access to the Gym.
Every night, from 9:15 to 10:00, Jon would sit in the sauna and listen to the rich businessmen talk about their success stories. The successful people taught Jon many things, including to never give up on his dreams, and to just keep moving forward no matter what.
And that is exactly what he did. He is now worth millions on millions, has an incredible family and is living a life of happiness, all because he chose to surround himself with the right people.
It’s a simple concept. We become the type of people we hang around the most. CHOOSE YOUR RELATIONSHIPS WISELY!! And above all else, be that bad ass influence that everyone wants to be around. Its contagious and will change your life.
Passing on the positive vibes, Cram
