Tuesday seems like a great day to be alive. Today, Mr. C continues to talk about rejection. He spends a good portion of time talking about specific stories of people who had been rejected time and time again; but because of their ability to use it as motivation, they have done things that people will talk about for a long time. Here are some examples: J.K. Rowling, author of Harry Potter, was turned down by 12 different publishers before someone said yes. Now, she is worth a billion dollars. Steven King threw the manuscript of “Carrie” into the garbage because it had been rejected 30 times. He later fished it out of the garbage, kept going, found a publisher and ended up selling 4 million copies of the book.

In 1998, Google co-founders, Larry Page and Sergey Brin approached Yahoo and suggested a merger. Yahoo suggested that they go back and keep working on their little school project and come back when they had grown up. Well, that little school project and overcoming some rejection has turned into one of the world’s most powerful companies. The list goes on and on and on.

The key is to never count yourself out. Always believe that you can succeed and to never give up.

I learned from a very young age that if you want to do mediocre things, have a mediocre work ethic. If you want to have average results, well then simply do the things that average people do. But, if you want to do something that people talk about for a long time to come, do the things that the rest of the world is not willing to do. Take one extra no on the doors or in your job that the average people wouldn’t. Do one extra rep in the gym the the average athlete wouldn’t take. Read one extra book to your child that the average person wouldn’t read.

Be a master of who you want to be like it was the last thing on earth that you had to accomplish. The life of an average person might be fun in the moment, but it doesn’t bring happiness long term. Fight through the voice inside that tells you that you can’t do it or that you are too tired to do it. Because literally, the only thing that stands between you and your dreams is the voice inside of you that says you can’t do it. I say you tell that voice to take a freaking hike and its time to go to work!!
