It’s Friday, and it feels freaking good! Let’s end this week’s blog strong so we can head into a fantastic weekend! We continue to talk about some of the things the author found while meeting with over 1,100 students over coffee.

Falling Up- “In the midst of defeat, stress, and crisis, our brains map different paths to help us cope. Many cope by shutting down and giving up.

The Zorro Circle- “When challenges loom and we get overwhelmed, our rational brains can get hijacked by emotions.”

The 20-Second Rule- “Sustaining lasting change often feels impossible because our willingness is limited. And when willpower fails, we fall back on our old habits and succumb to the path of least resistance.”

Throughout the course of this book, the author is going to take each of these 6 common ways that we handle stress and obstacles in life, and teach us how to dominate them by doing other simple things to get there. I wanted to just take a second and express the value, which I believe this book has brought to my life in just 2 weeks. I have been listening to it at the gym each morning while I try to get swole and work off those Jr. Bacon Cheeseburgers that I order from Wendy’s every day. In those two weeks, I have learned so many simple concepts. The truth is, we as humans, complicate things.

We complicate the hell out of them.

There is a reason many people aren’t happy. There is a reason that many people don’t enjoy their jobs. There is a reason that most people can’t start a goal and see it all the way through. There is a reason that many people in this world are overweight. And guess what? No offense, but it’s our own damn fault. We are the reason for our insecurities, our unhappiness, and our lack of success. No one else but us drives that ship.

What I have learned the most from reading this book is that the path to success and happiness comes from living simple principles. It comes from slight edge changes to your daily thoughts, routines, and habits that make life changing differences. So all I am trying to say is buckle up and pay attention. It’s about to get real!
