I write this blog today in hopes that it will spark the motivation bug for at least one person. A spark that will lead the person to a path of doing the simple things that will lead to great results. Start your week the right way. In the mean time, we continue to get mind-blown by John Wooden.
1. Worry about the things that you can control- I believe this to be one of the most valuable lessons that one can learn in their life. Too many people run around trying to change circumstances that they literally have zero control of. I learned quickly that the more I focus on what is right in front of me and the results that I can create, the happier I become. I can’t control if it raining outside, but I can control my attitude about it. So in other words, stop bitching about the rain! 🙂
2. Don’t ever mistake activity for achievement- how many people do you know that run around with their heads cut off, thinking they are being efficient? I interact with people every day that are wall to wall with their schedules, but then at the end of the day, wonder what they did. Focus on being pro-active with getting things done. Be disciplined with your time. Don’t be afraid to say no to an activity that will derail your ultimate goal for the day.
3. Stop complaining. Keep your head down and just keep going- this one can tie together with #1. As we have talked about many of times before, the world is full of complainers. Think to yourself for a minute how many times a day you complain. Do you complain about getting out of bed? Do you complain about your kids being disobedient? Do you complain about your job, your physical health and your mental state? Do you complain about how much money you have and how crappy the home is that you live in? Do you complain about your spouse, your fellow employees, your lunch, and your dinner? How often do you complain? A complaining attitude will very rarely ever get you anywhere. Just put your head down and keep on keeping on. It is a gigantic formula for success!
4. Enjoy life- I believe this really is a lost art. One of the guys at work yesterday was giving me crap for how loud I am at the office. Damn right I am! And that loudness is usually filled with laughing, checking in on people’s lives, and enjoying myself. Life is too freaking short to take it so freaking serious. I sat in a room yesterday with a bunch of dudes worth hundreds of millions of dollars, all of which were dressed in suits and ties. All while I showed up in my joggers and AirForce Ones. Why? Because that is who I am, what makes me feel comfortable, and what helps me enjoy life. Be true to yourself no matter who is watching.
I really just can’t tell each of you enough how much I enjoy life, the people that are in it, the blessings I am receiving, and the things I am learning. Life really just could not get much better!
Living it up, Cram
