Yeeeeahhhh buddy it’s Friday, time to get it! Today, we are talking again about the importance of continual improvement. First of all, you have to decide on what to improve on. Do you want to be a better husband, or a more dedicated father? Do you want to improve the product or the service that you render? Do you want to increase your ability to close people? Do you want to increase your level of influence? The list goes on and on. Whatever area it is, which you want to improve in, decide what steps are needed to get there. Are the steps to read a book, attend a seminar, or meet with an expert in that arena?

It’s so important to be constantly asking yourself the what you can do to improve each day. I remember hearing one time the average person in the top 5% of any profession reads one book per month. Oliver Cromwell, an English military and political leader once said:

He who stops being better, stops being good.

One of life’s realities is improvement takes time. It doesn’t happen overnight, but because many of the new products we buy promise next day satisfaction, we come to expect instant gratification. Thus, we become discouraged when it doesn’t happen.

I remember telling a story one time, which I had done some research on get rich quick programs. In my research I noticed that everyone of these programs had millions of views; freaking millions. I also noticed the greatest audiobook I have ever listened to, Jeff Olsen’s “The Slight Edge,” only had about 21,000 hits. What the fuuureeek?

To stay ahead in this world, you have to be working on something every single day. Improvement takes practice, practice, practice. You have to hone your skills and shoot for constant refinement. Every book you read, every class you take, and every experience you have is another building block in your career and your life. Don’t short change yourself by not being ready when your big break appears.

Make sure you have done your homework and honed your craft. Again, motivation will get you going, but self-discipline and continual improvement will keep you growing. Let me just put it this way, your chance of continual success is next to none if you don’t build your life upon a foundation of continual learning. Not only that, but your life WILL NOT and CANNOT be fulfilled if you don’t strive to get better, every single day. Improve, and be happy!  #doctrine
