Life is good when it’s Wednesday. Take full advantage of it! Don’t waste anytime! Go all in! Be the best version of yourself today that you can be! Today we continue to talk about character, and how it is the most important part of being a great leader. Here are some specific ways that the book talks about:
I will focus on being better on the inside rather than on the outside.
We have talked about this topic quite a bit. I know that it is very normal for humans to focus on how they look on the outside. There is nothing wrong with that. Where we get ourselves in trouble is when we worry more about the outside than what is going on the inside. Our reputation comes from what other believe about our outside, but our character represents who we are on the inside.
You have to remember that without a doubt, what is going on inside is influencing the production and the efficiency on the outside. “What we think in our hearts, so we become.” What we do or neglect to do in the privacy of our own lives impacts who we are. If you neglect your heart, mind, and soul, it changes who you are on the outside as well as the inside.
It is always important to remember that inside victories are more important than outside ones. “If you do the things you need to do when you need to do them, then someday you can do the things you want to do when you want to do them.” In other words, before you can do, you must be. The right motions outwardly with wrong motives inwardly will not bring lasting progress. Right outward talking with wrong inward thinking will not bring lasting success. The key to continuous growth and lasting success are the result of aligning the inside and the outside of our lives.
Our inside development is totally within our control. Jim Rohn once said,
We often cannot determine what happens to us, but we can always determine what happens within us.
I love that quote, and I believe in it sincerely. Everything can look so amazing on the outside with people. They can look very good physically. They can have all the fancy homes and nice cars, but if they are not continuously (daily) engaging in becoming better husbands, fathers, sons, friends, and people at the same time they are building their net worth, it will all come crashing down. The foundation to success in life is being good people with strong character. If you don’t have that, eventually your life will come crashing down. Not just sometimes, but ALWAYS!
Building some strong character, Cram
