It’s freaking Thursday! Hell to the freaking yes! I really liked how the author started today’s reading. He talks about how everyone of us want a Level 10 of success, in every area of our lives. “In health, happiness, finances, relationships, career, and spirituality.” The problem is that if our self-development (knowledge, experience, mindset, beliefs, etc., are not at a level 10 as well, life really won’t be fulfilled. And again, happiness comes from fulfillment. Always remember that statement.
“Our outer world will always be a reflection of our inner world.”
Until we dedicate time each day into becoming the person that we want to be, we simply won’t become that person, and success will always be something that is hard to attain.
Ok, so now that we have had drilled into our minds that its all about self-development, now it’s about finding the time. Let’s be honest. Life gets crazy, and it is easy to fill all 24 hours with what we think are “important things”. Grab your planner and consider the following options:
- Maybe the Evening? I have tried this before and was unsuccessful. It was the only time I had to spend one on one with my wife, and to be honest with you, my energy and focus were at all time lows because of the stress of the day.
- Maybe the Afternoon? Never tried this myself because there is literally so much going on that it is hard to stay focused on the personal development because you have the kids, work, cell phones buzzing, and so much more. I would stay away from the afternoon unless you are somehow able to find piece and quiet, with little interruptions.
- Well, that leaves you with one choice, and I know it’s the least sexy of all the choices. I myself know how sucky it is to wake up at the butt crack of dawn every single day. Every single day is a fight to hustle out of that bed. There are so many justifications that come to my mind. But, like I have said before, once I cross that threshold from bedroom to study room, it is on! And I go hard, and its life changing stuff that I learn, every single morning.
I have told the story before that for the longest time I got up at 6:15 and didn’t go to the gym in the morning. I was going in the evening, which was cutting into my ability to have family dinner with my kids. Big mistake for so many reasons, and I have since repented for those sins. As I sat down to adjust my schedule, it wasn’t an option that I missed out on working out and feeling good each day. It also wasn’t an option that I didn’t take an hour and 15 minutes to self-develop and write this blog. Soooooo…, the only choice I had to make was to get less sleep to be able to fit it all in. And that is where the 5:00 am story begins. If you want more time, get less sleep.
For anyone that is close to me, they would know that for years, if I didn’t get enough sleep, I got sick. Guess what ladies and gentlemen? I have repented for those sins as well because it was all in my head. I get about 5.5 to 6 hours a sleep each night now, and I am here to tell you that I have never had more energy, desire to be good, and I have never seen so much growth. Oh and by the way…I am not getting sick. So, bottom line, you don’t need 8 hours of sleep to function. That’s bull shit! And it’s all in your head! I don’t buy it. If you can get that much sleep and still be able to get your self-development in, then good on you. But most the world has to sacrifice sleep to receive the blessings of self-development. I will once again make a promise to you that if you will wake up an hour earlier and start your day the right way, it will change the course of your entire life. I promise you it will.
